A Time of Restoration

(Laatste wijziging: Thursday, 16 August 2007, 12:58 PM)

CD4

I believe that God is concerned with the restoration of two peoples to whom He's related by a covenant which He has declared He will never break.  The first, historically, is Israel.  The second is the Church.

Appointment in Jerusalem

(Laatste wijziging: Thursday, 16 August 2007, 12:58 PM)

Appointment

…Out of true love and concern, we must pray as the  psalmist tells us, "for the peace of Jerusalem," remembering that peace can only come to Jerusalem as Israel returns back to God.  God has shown me that from now on to pray in this way for Jerusalem will be the  highest form of service that I can render Him.

(Speaking of Lydia Prince, Derek's first wife)  As I look back over the years that we spent together, there are four aspects of her character that stand out most clearly - her honesty, her courage, her loyalty, and her humour.  There were two words that never applied to her - she was never boring and never insincere.

Atonement

We can get involved in many forms of teaching, ministry & Christian activity that may be good in their own way.  But if they are separated from the sacrifice of the cross, ultimately they lose their effectiveness.

Atonement

When I speak about the cross, I am not referring to a piece of metal or wood…I am talking about the sacrifice that Jesus made on our behalf.

Complete Salvation

(Laatste wijziging: Friday, 4 January 2008, 13:42 PM)

Complete salvationWe need to understand clearly that the old man is incorrigible.  God does not try to improve him - He does not send him to church or teach him Scripture.  He has only one solution for the old man inside us and the solution is execution.  However, the message of mercy is tha tthe execution took place two thousand years ago when Jesus died on the cross.  Our old man was crucified with Him.

Complete Salvation

(Laatste wijziging: Friday, 4 January 2008, 13:42 PM)

Complete SalvationWhat God did on the cross is a finished, historical fact.  It is true whether or not we know it or believe it.  But, when we know it and believe it and apply it, it works in us.  Just as Jesus was executed on the cross, so I believe my old, fallen, rebellious, corrupt nature was put to death.  Death is the way out - the only way out - of the fallen, Adamic nature.  Wand we take the way out through the death of jesus on the cross - though identification.  Paul tells us, "Reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin."

Complete Salvation

(Laatste wijziging: Friday, 4 January 2008, 13:41 PM)

Complete SalvationChrist's death was followed by His burial.  How are we identified with Him in burial?  By baptism in water. That is why baptism is so important.  The identification with His death is inward, but our identification with Him in burial is outward.  It is a visible identification with the Lord.
